Petoskey stones are found in Northern Michigan along the shores of Lake Michigan and Lake Huron. This stone is washed in a mild pickling solution. The lime in the stone reacts with the solution to bring out the white definition you see in the stones. Pickled Petoskey stone is a fossilized coral and the state stone of Michigan.
